Join us for a special screening of the documentary Umberto Eco: A Library of the World at the Italian Cultural Center.

The event will begin with an introduction by Il Circolo Letterario moderator and expert Pieranna Garavaso, professor emerita at the University of Minnesota Morris.

The documentary will be in Italian with English subtitles, followed by a Q&A session in English.

Refreshments will be served.

Umberto Eco: A Library of the World offers an intimate tour of Eco's vast private library, guided by the author himself. The film combines new footage with material shot with Eco in 2015, capturing both his immense collection and his legacy as a profound thinker. As Eco’s family reflects on his contributions, viewers are invited into the life and mind of this prolific Italian medievalist, philosopher, and author.

This event honors The Week of Italian Language in the World, celebrated from October 14 to 20, 2024, under the patronage of the President of the Italian Republic. The theme this year, “The Italian language and books: the world between the lines,” highlights the role of books in conveying Italian language, culture, and values.

Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the life and mind of one of Italy’s greatest thinkers.
