      Telling Detailed and Engaging Stories in the Past 
      Open to everyone – members and non-members alike!

      Join us for a dynamic and rewarding two-hour workshop designed for Pre-Intermediate Italian students who want to tell stories in the past with greater confidence and flair.

      Whether you're recounting what you did yesterday or describing a past vacation in vivid detail, learning to distinguish between the passato prossimo and imperfetto is an essential step toward proficiency.

      This student-centered, highly interactive session focuses on oral practice and will help you:

      • Confidently form both past tenses
      • Understand when and why to use one over the other
      • Tell more engaging and accurate stories in Italian

      By the end of the workshop, you’ll feel more empowered to share your past experiences in Italian with clarity and nuance.

      Prerequisite: Completion of Beginning Level 5
      Cost: $45 for Members | $55 for Non-Members

      The goal of this course is for students to speak with greater sophistication on a variety of topics such as books, family interactions, and gift-giving. Students will practice argumentative topics, including new ways to express interest and preferences, offer suggestions, comment on advantages and disadvantages, as well as inquire about and explain the reasoning behind opinions and decisions and hypothetical situation. Students will also learn to construct and accurately convey more detailed stories focussing on the relationship of events and situations in time. We will cover Chapters 5-7 in the Nuovo Espresso 3 textbook, for further practice with the subjunctive in a wide variety of contexts and new useful expressions. Each class will provide information and discussion on cultural aspects of Italian life.

      Prerequisite: Intermediate Level 1

      This "Special Topics" class is for students who are at Upper Intermediate Level (B2) or above. Students will deepen their knowledge of a few contemporary authors and their literary works of the 20th century while practicing reading and conversational skills at the B2+ proficiency level. This course offers the perfect balance between structure and flexibility by providing the opportunity to practice specific grammatical structures and vocabulary found in the readings in a personally meaningful and authentic conversational context.

      NOTE: If you have taken a previous iteration of this class, please let the instructor know which readings you have done in past courses.

      Practice Italian vocabulary and grammar in a structured, but highly conversational course all about the Italian films from recent decades. This course is suggested for students at a A2/B1 (Pre-Intermediate level or above). Practice your Italian conversational skills using appropriate terminology, and participate in lively discussions by sharing your own observations about Italy's most memorable films, watched at home at your convenience.       In this course of the "Practice and Consolidation" series, designed for students at or close to the C1 level, we will continue to review and reinforce language skills at the Upper Intermediate level while working towards a more Advanced level of accuracy and fluency. Grammar structures previously studied will be addressed in their nuances and practiced more in depth, as we increase our vocabulary to discuss socio-cultural topics relevant in contemporary Italy.

      In this class, students at the B2/C1 level will complete the final chapters of the textbook Nuovissimo Progetto italiano 2b as they continue to revisit previously encountered grammar structures in detail and practice them thoroughly in a variety of communicative and cultural contexts. Students will engage in guided conversations on a variety of topics including daily life, contemporary society, and immigration, while working to reinforce and consolidate their language skills at the upper-intermediate level.

      Prerequisite: Upper-Intermediate

      Cost: $350

      Note: If you choose to order a copy of Nuovissimo Progetto italiano 2b, a combined Textbook/Workbook/Quaderno degli Esercizi, keep in mind that this book may or may not be used in the upcoming semesters, starting from the beginning, depending on enrollment numbers.

    Course Information:

    • Class Schedule: Classes meet once per week for ten weeks.
    • Cost: $350 per course.
    • Membership Requirement: All students must hold an active ICC membership.
    • Age Requirement: Adult classes are open to students 18 years of age and older.
    • Progression: To move to the next level, students must attend at least 70% of classes and pass a final assessment.
    • Punctuality: Please arrive on time to avoid disrupting the class.

    Enrollment & Tuition

    • Minimum Enrollment: A minimum of 4 students is required for a group class to run.
      If the class is under-enrolled (fewer than 4 students), the Director will contact you to offer alternative options appropriate for your level, or you may choose to receive a full immediate refund.
    • Payment Deadline: Tuition is due in full before to the first class.
    • Non-transferability: Class registration is non-transferable to another individual.
    • Class Closure: Group classes close after the first week. No new students will be added thereafter.
    • Discounts: No discounts apply to private, semi-private, customized classes, or workshop classes.
    • Private Lesson Cancellation: Cancellations of private or semi-private lessons made less than 24 hours in advance will be charged at the full tuition rate.

    Online Classes

    • If you have not received the Zoom link and class details by the day before your first class, please check your spam folder.
    • Classes are not recorded. Students who miss a session will not have access to a recording.
    • Active participation is required: both video and audio must be turned on. Passive attendance without interaction disrupts the class dynamic and is not conducive to learning.
    • Class size: Zoom group classes are generally limited to 8 students, although ICC reserves the right to adjust this number if necessary.

    In-Person Classes

    • Zoom attendance is not available for in-person classes.
    • Instructors will provide a summary of the missed session to all students before the next class.
