      Placement Test

      Not sure in which class to register? Complete this placement test.*

      We offer a professional Italian language proficiency evaluation for a refundable $25 charge. The amount will be deducted from tuition when you enroll in our classes.

      Register and email the completed test to: sabrina@theitalianculturalcenter.org
      Sabrina Infante, Director of the Italian Language Program.

       You will be contacted to schedule a Zoom meeting to discuss the results of the test, your oral skills, and which class best fits your language needs.

      * This test is recommended for those who have some knowledge of Italian and are registering for our classes for the first time. Students registering for Beginner 1 and current students don't need to take this test.

      The goal of this course is for the student to be able to communicate about events of the past, working on when and how to use the different past tenses, and to express feelings, emotions. Each class will provide information and discussion on cultural aspects of Italian life.

      Prerequisite: Intermediate Level 1

      In this class, students will review and reinforce their language skills at the upper-intermediate level while exploring cultural topics related to contemporary Italy.

      We will revisit the previously studied grammar structures in detail and practice them thoroughly.

      The goal of the course is for the student to be able to express surprise, doubt, agreement/disagreement, preferences, and emotions.  Students will learn how to make assumptions, apologize, and invite a person to join in an activity.  Each class will provide information and discussion on cultural aspects of Italian life.

      Prerequisite: Pre-Intermediate 3

      In the third course of the "Practice and Consolidation" series, students continue to review and reinforce their language skills at the upper Intermediate level while working on cultural topics related to contemporary Italy. Grammar structures previously studied will be addressed in their nuances and practiced more in depth.

      Prerequisite: Practice and Consolidation #2

      Before proceeding to Upper Intermediate 1, students have the opportunity to reinforce the most important grammatical structures covered in previous Intermediate levels to become more confident in speaking and writing. Students will engage in meaningful conversational topics with classmates and the instructor to increase ease and automaticity in conversation.

      Pre-requisite: Intermediate 3

      If you do not already have the text Nuovo Espresso 3, you have the option of ordering the e-book  version, which will give you sample sentences and structures, as well as practice activities to help prepare for each lesson's conversation topics.

      The goal of the course is to be able to critique opinions, express regret, surprise,  disbelief, and report about historical facts. Cultural aspects of Italian life will be discussed in each session.

      Prerequisite: Bridge Class #1

    Course Information:
    • Classes are offered once per week for ten weeks. Cost: $330
    • All students must hold active ICC memberships.
    • Adult classes are for students who are 18 or older.
    • Class-attendance rate of 70% is required to proceed to the next level.
    • Punctuality towards class starting time is kindly required to avoid class disruption
    • The ICC requires a minimum of 4 students in any group class. When enrollment drops below this number, students will be offered the option of remitting a tuition supplement. If all involved students agree to the supplement, the class can materialize.
    • All tuition is due in full prior to the first class.
    • Class registration is not transferable to another person.
    • All group classes will close after the first week of class, and no new students will be added.
    • No discounts apply to private, semi-private, customized classes or workshops.
    • Cancellations of private or semi-private lessons, made less than 24 hours in advance, will be charged at the normal rate of tuition
    For online classes:
    • If you do not receive a Zoom link, and class details, by the day before your first class session, please check your spam folder.
    • Language sessions are not recorded for students who miss a class.
    • Active participation is key. Video and audio must be turned on, auditing the class without interaction is not conducive to learning and affects the class dynamic.  
    • Zoom group classes are limited to 10 students per class. However, the ICC reserves the right to adjust this number as is necessary.
    For in-person classes:
    • Joining a session via Zoom is not an option. The instructor will send information about the missed class to all students before the following session.
    Refund Policy:
    • Students will receive a full refund of course tuition, less a $10 registration fee, prior to the start of the first lesson in the session.
    • Students can withdraw from the course prior to the second week of class. An administrative fee of $50 will be retained.
    • No refunds will be issued after the second week of group classes.
    • PLEASE NOTE: Regular class attendance is strongly advised. If a student must miss class, for any reason, s/he will not qualify for reimbursement or an individual makeup class.
