Artist Statement
Contemporary papermaking is an artistic discipline rooted in the transition between states of matter—from fibrous to semifluid to solid and substantial again. This process involves the participation of organic phenomena, which contribute to and define the final form. A successful piece embodies and reflects this intrinsic connection, the dialogue between the artist and the material, where a natural process reveals itself.
