Festa Italiana 2012 Kicks Off with a Fundraiser and Singing Contest at
Mancini’s July 23
Following a very successful inaugural year, Festa Italiana will return to Saint Paul’s Harriet Island September 21 and 22. To raise money to support the free Festival, the committee is planning a return of last year’s popular Festa fundraiser A Taste of Italy with a special invitation to crooners and divas to join in the second annual Italian Singing Contest.
The fundraiser will take place Monday, July 23 at Mancini’s Char House on West 7th Street in Saint Paul from 6 to 10 p.m. Admission is $25 with those entering the “Crooners and Divas Singing Contest” charged only $10 to attend. Contestants may sing a traditional Italian folk song, a song made famous by an Italian crooner, or an Italian aria. A panel of judges will determine the winner. That winner will be invited to sing on the main stage at Festa Italiana in September. To register for the singing contest, submit your name and the song you plan to sing to aliciareneesing@gmail.com.
The admission fees support Festa Italiana 2012 and will provide a night filled with fabulous Italian food and camaraderie, a silent auction with many great items, and the Second Annual Crooners and Divas contest. A cash bar will be available. Tickets are available at the door.
