MAKE & TAKE
Gnocchi di patate, Gnudi and Gnocchi alla romana
Sunday, November 13, from 2:00 - 4:30 pm
Small group, max. 10 participants
With native Italian Romina Montanari,
ICC's Instructor and Food & Wine Manager.
In addition to her cooking expertise, Romina is also passionate about sharing information and discuss cultural aspects of Italian cucina & life.
Learn, make, and taste 3 different kinds of gnocchi.
Gnocchi di patate – delicate Italian dumplings made from potatoes and traditionally served as a first course – are a versatile and delicious alternative to fresh pasta.
Gnudi - in the wonderful and very expressive Tuscan language, literally means "naked": this is the filling of the Maremma tortello, a first course of the peasant tradition, typical of this region and served free of the dough.
Gnocchi alla romana - these Roman-style semolina gnocchi represent the classic Thursday dish, probably placed in the middle of the week to compensate for the lightness of the next day's meal.
On Sunday, November 13, from 2:00 – 4:30 PM, ICC instructor and native Italian, Romina Montanari, will lead a hands-on cooking session, teaching students how to make Gnocchi di patate, Gnudi and Gnocchi alla romana at Mid-City Kitchen, a beautiful space in St. Paul.
Romina will demonstrate the process, and then it will be your turn to create some Gnocchi di patate, some Gnudi and some Gnocchi alla Romana of your own! Each participant will have the opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine, taste some gnocchi, learn the history of this dish, and bring home a small size portion of 3 different kind of gnocchi.
All ingredients are included, but please bring 2 cookie trays and 4 light kitchen towels and a baking pan to carry your gnocchi home.
