LE VIE DEL VINO
The Southern Wines of Puglia and Campania
LIVE WINE EDUCATION
APPETIZERS, LIVE MUSIC, ROOFTOP VIEW
Friday, July 8, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
(In-person)
Join us for an evening of live music, light-appetizers and a wine tasting tour of Italy's southern regions of Campania and Puglia.
Although wines have been produced in each region for millennia, Campania, the ‘shin’ of the Italian peninsula, is more widely recognized as the birthplace of pizza, lemon groves and the breathtaking Amalfi Coast than a producer of great wines. While Puglia, the ‘heel’ of the peninsula is known more for its agricultural output than that of a fine wine producing region.
But the times they are a' changing! Both Campania and Puglia can now be counted as true hidden gem regions, capable of producing beautiful, food-friendly and age-worthy wines.
We’ll discuss a brief history of each region and enjoy 5 wines from the light, crisp almost ‘salty’ whites, ideal for pairing with fish and seafood, to the big, bold and age-worthy reds that are the perfect compliment to fresh grilled vegetables, fruity tomatoes, peppery olive oils and just about anything cooked over an open-fire!
In addition to 5 wines from the south, you will enjoy appetizers and live music performed by Vittorio and The Bridges with the beautiful Minneapolis summer skyline in the background.
The wine portion of the evening will be expertly led by David Johnson, a CMS-Certified Sommelier and life-long Italian wine-enthusiast.
