Le Vie del Vino

Friuli Venezia Giulia Multi-Cultural Wines

ONLINE WINE EDUCATION

Thursday, May 6, 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm CDT via Zoom

Conversation will be in English

Friuli  Venezia Giulia, in Italy's far northeast has a history of many cultures over the centuries. The wines represent this situation, from vibrant, high acid whites to earthy, tangy reds that have a distinctive quality quite different than the typical Italian red wine. Join us for a webinar covering this region's wines, from the familiar (Pinot Grigio) to the highly unusual (Schiopetto), including highly sought after orange wines.

The wine education will be expertly lead by Tom Hyland, a freelance wine writer, educator and photographer specializing in Italian wines. He has visited Italy more than 75 times over the past 20 years from his home base in Chicago. He has written about Italian wines for numerous publications including wine-searcher.com, forbes.com and Decanter in England. He has authored two books on Italian wine: Beyond Barolo and Brunello: Italy’s Most Distinctive Wines and The Wines and Foods of Piemonte. He currently publishes a subscription publication called Italian Wine Report that features reviews of several hundred Italian wines each issue.

Enjoying this educational wine event with one or two of these wines is recommended but not mandatory.
