       Make and Take: Tortellini

Tortellini
— small circles of rolled dough folded around a meat filling — are one of the most famous members of the Italian pasta family. They also known as cappelletti, are hat-shaped pasta, sometimes also described as "navel shaped", hence their alternative name of "belly button" (ombelico). These dumplings are indeed inspired by Venus' navel. Originally from the Italian region of Emilia Romagna (in particular Bologna and Modena), they are usually served in broth or cream sauce.

On Sunday, January 19, 2:00 – 4:00 PM, ICC Italian instructor and Modena native, Romina Montanari, will lead this hands-on pasta making session at Mid-City Kitchen, a beautiful space in St. Paul.

Romina will demonstrate the process and how to fold them, and then it will be your turn to create some tortellini of your own!  Each participant will enjoy a glass of wine and some tortellini to taste and will bring the tortellini they just made home.

Cost for the event is $55 for members, and $65 for non-members. All ingredients are included, but please bring a flat tray with two flour sack kitchen towels to carry your tortellini home.
