Generazione 1000 euro (Generation 1000 euro)
Directed by Massimo Vernier, 2009, 101 minutes

In this fast-paced romantic comedy set in bustling Milan, we witness a common Italian dilemma: how to get by on a salary of just 1,000 Euros a month? Matteo, a 30-year-old university graduate, shares a hazard-prone apartment with his best friend and works in the marketing department of a company being ‘reorganized’. The ongoing threat of being fired is soon eclipsed by the arrival of two women in his life: Angelica, his seductive co-worker, and Beatrice, the new roommate who moves into his apartment, initially much to his annoyance. As they draw him into an endless series of trials and tribulations, Matteo is forced to define his life and figure out what he’s really living for.

Based on the eponymous novel by Antonio Incorvaia and Alessandro Rimassa (which began as a hit online blog), Generazione 1000 Euro is a comedy about life’s many choices - personal and professional, financial and ethical - played out by likable characters who warmly mix ingenuity and optimism. The film owes much to its vibrant and talented cast. “Fresh and entertaining … spot on dialogue.” Camillo de Marco, Cineuropa.
