Experiment in International Living (EIL), a non-profit that runs high school summer abroad cultural immersion programs, is looking for summer 2011 group leaders to Italy
.

Every summer EIL programs bring together motivated high school students from around the US who engage in challenging cross-cultural experiences facilitated and overseen by a group leader. Consisting of an orientation, homestay, community service, and travel portions, EIL summer programs offer a variety of opportunities for cultural immersion and connection. The group leader participates alongside the students and he or she is able to share and guide the in-country experience of the group members. The trips are both personally and professionally rewarding, requiring leaders to hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, experience working with adolescents, and/or relevant in-country experiences.

Group Leader Job Description

Group leaders for the EIL travel with groups of 10-14 students for the duration of a 3 to 5 week summer program. Leader's main duties include helping students acclimate to a new culture, explore a new country, and integrate with a homestay family as well as working with the EIL's international partners to make sure the summer's program is safe, fun, and experientially rich.

Before traveling abroad EIL’s leaders participate in an intensive one-week training program on World Learning's campus in Brattleboro, Vermont. Leaders then depart directly after training for a major US airport where they meet their group members, conduct a brief orientation and fly abroad to begin the program.

All transportation to and from leadership training, abroad with the group, and back to a home city is purchased for leaders by the EIL, and all in-country expenses (including health insurance, transportation, meals, activities, lodging, incidentals, communications) are covered. In addition to this, group leaders receive an approximately $100 per-week honorarium while leading.

Group leadership applications should be completed online, and submitted before March 28th 2011. To view programs and access the online application, please visit www.experimentinternational.org.
