Carnival is always a special time in Italy and Italians enjoy many traditional sweets before Lent begins. Perfect for this season are Tortelli dolci, a tasty treat from the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna, with variations offered in other regions. The recipe – a sweet “pasta frolla” dough filed with fruit jam – yields a delicious and lighter dessert because the Tortelli are baked, not fried.
ICC instructor and Italian native, Romina Montanari will guide you through the process assisted by Asse, Rebecca’s pastry chef. Romina will also provide historical and cultural information about this seasonal dessert. Participants will enjoy Italian coffees or sodas and take home a plateful of their just-baked tortelli!
The event will be held at Rebecca's Authentic Italian Bakery, located at 2111 East Franklin Avenue, Minneapolis. The event is scheduled for Sunday, January 31st, 2:00 – 4:00 PM. Ample free parking is available.
