The ICC's third tour, organized in collaboration with the Walker Art Center, which will be spoken in Italian, and lead by Lorella Angelini, will be held on Thursday, October 30, at the Walker Art Center!
The tour will focus on the new exhibition, “Art at the Center: 75 Years of Walker Collections”, which will open at the Walker Art Center on October 16 and will be shown until September 11, 2016. The exhibition celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Walker as a public art center dedicated to presenting and collecting the art of our times. It is curated by the Walker’s Executive Director, Olga Viso, and guest curator, Joan Rothfuss.
We will take a historical journey through the development and growth of the Walker collections over the past 75 years. We will, also, have a unique opportunity to see iconic works from the collection, such as Edward Hopper’s Office at Night (1940) and Franz Marc’s The Large Blue Horses (1911)
The event will begin at 6 p.m., and participants will meet at the Walker Art Center, 1750 Hennepin Avenue, in the Bazinet Lobby, located near the Vineland entrance. Lorella will lead the tour in Italian, and the cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members.
Lorella is a native of Pesaro, in the Marche region of Italy. She holds a Laurea in Civil Engineering from Marche Polytechnic University. She moved to the USA from Milan in 1998, and as soon as she arrived in Minneapolis in 1999, she became a member of the Walker Art Center. In 2003, she had an opportunity to join the tour guide team. She enjoys participating in the life of the Walker, where she has been able to nourish her passion for art, while learning teaching skills and techniques.
Space will be limited, so please register here today. Contact Peggy at info@theitalianculturalcenter.org with questions. Please note that this event will be conducted in Italian.
