Saturno contro
studies the interrelationships of a tightly-knit group of friends in the period surrounding the dissolution of a marriage and a premature death. At the story's center are Lorenzo, a confident, surreally handsome, 30-year-old Italian man, and his live-in lover, the author Davide. They spend their non-working hours with a colorful clique that includes: bright, spunky cocaine addict Roberta; husband-and-wife (and parents) Antonio and Angelica; caustic Neval and her husband, a cop; Davide's former lover, the acid-tongued Sergio; and a new arrival to the group, Paolo. When tragedy strikes, the boundaries and divisions among friends, acquaintances and even lovers become brutally apparent.
