Small groups, informal atmosphere and university-educated native speakers provide the ideal environment to learn a foreign language. Our instructors, born and raised in Italy, bring first-hand experience and cultural background of Italian life and current traditions to the classroom.

Students are encouraged to converse in Italian from the first lesson. Taped dialogue related to the textbook material is played in each class to further develop listening comprehension abilities. Role-play and interaction between students and instructors make the lessons enjoyable, lively and effective.

The goal of this course is for the student to be able to greet others and introduce himself/herself, ask for information, describe his/her house, family, objects and their location. Overall grammatical topics: present tense of regular and some irregular verbs; nouns, articles, adjective agreement; interrogative pronouns. Each class will provide information and discussion on cultural aspects of Italian life.

The goal of this course is for the student to be able to speak more extensively about himself / herself, his/her profession, likes and dislikes. The student will also learn how to handle situations related to ordering at restaurants, shops, ask about prices, clothes and daily activities. Overall grammatical topics: additional regular and irregular verbs; introduction to the simple past tense; usage of adjectives and pronouns. Each class will provide information and discussion on cultural aspects of Italian life.

The goal of this course is for the student to be able to express opinions precisely and thoroughly, and to describe events in detail in the present, past and future, using accurate and appropriate vocabulary. Overall grammatical topics: review of "if" clauses and subjunctive, infinitive and gerundio modes; review of prepositions and pronouns. The current situation in Italy and cultural aspects of Italian life will be discussed in depth in order to give the student different opportunities to practice advanced conversational skills.

This class is for students who have completed the Advanced 2 course or who have an advanced level of proficiency in Italian. Based on newspapers, magazines articles, and readings, the course will analyze current aspects of Italian life, society and culture. Through this analysis of different aspects concerning Italy, the class will have the opportunity to review grammatical structures and to further expand vocabulary.
