IMG_3893.JPGThe Italian Cultural Center organizes a movie club, a story hour, parties in celebration of Carnevale and the Befana as well as special collaborations with local artists and institutions, such as the Italian performance of renowned shadow theater master Fabrizio Montecchi's Circoluna at the Children's Theatre Company (pictured at left).

    Ferragosto, the mid-August Italian holiday, is celebrated in Italy with picnics and informal outdoor gatherings. The Italian Cultural Center invites you and your family to a picnic-style celebration to be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Tartan Park in Lake Elmo, on Saturday, August 23, 2014. Tartan Park is located at 11455 20th Street North in Lake Elmo.


    This year’s Ferragosto will feature an Italian- themed picnic buffet by Prom Catering. The buffet will include:

    •  Italian sausage cooked on the grill with pepper and onions
    •  Hot dogs and buns for the kids
    •  Farfalle pasta salad with tomatoes, mozzarella and basil vinaigrette
    •  Sliced watermelon
    •  Brownies and popsicles
    •  Soft drinks and bottled water 

    A cash bar, for the purchase of wine, beer (including some Italian varieties), mixed drinks, and additional soft drinks, will be available.  Please note that it is not possible to bring in alcoholic beverages at Tartan Park, but the cash bar will be open throughout the event.


    EVERYONE IS WELCOME to attend. Cost for the event is $20 for non-members.  We are pleased to offer a special member cost of $12 per adult and all children under 10 will be admitted at a cost of $5. Registration will close on August 17.


    The event will feature our 3rd annual bocce ball tournament! There is no cost to play, but all bocce participants must purchase picnic tickets, and must indicate if they want to play. Please join us for some fun!


    The ICC will organize two-man teams; there will be a maximum of 16 teams (first to sign-up will play). Upon registering to play, indicate the name of your desired partner, and include an Italian name for your team. Be creative!  If you wish to play as an individual, let us know, and we will try to match you with another player.  Some prizes will be awarded.
